Carlos Chávez remembers Stokowski conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra in the 1920s; meeting Stokowski in 1930 in Mexico; and Stokowski performing Chávez's ballet H.P. at the Metropolitan Opera House in Philadelphia in 1932 with sets by Diego Rivera. Chávez conducted the Philadelphia Orchestra in 1932 at Stokowski's invitation. He discusses Stokowski performing his works Sinfonia India and Sinfonia Antigona (Symphonies, no. 1 and no. 2) and their correspondence regarding these works; and Stokowski's travels in Mexico accompanied by Chávez. He also mentions Evangeline Johnson; Eugene List; Stravinsky; his friendship with Aaron Copland; Mina Laderman Daniels; and meeting Rachmaninoff with Stokowski in Philadelphia.
